Market My Website - Rule # 4 - Get the right Blog

You may have heard before about blogs. Blogs are basically websites that are like journals in a way. You write on them about subjects that interest you. There are millions and millions of blogs and for the most part, they are useless. (except to the people who are writing them) From a marketing standpoint, a blog represents an excellent way to market yourself. A blog gives you:

The ability to keep updating a site without changing the layout of your business site
The ability to let users subscribe to it so that they will know when a change happens on your blog.
A self-sufficient way to maintain a site without needing outside or contracted webmaster help.
A way to post pictures, articles and information related to your product, industry, or service.

But, you need the right blog...

Please don't read the top portion of this page and then run out and sign up on blogspot or blogger. The reason I say that is because while they make it free and easy to get a blog, they don't do anything to help your marketing efforts. I am going to cover more about link building later, but lets just say for now that your search engine rankings have everything to do with how many high Page Rank sites you have linking to you and a free blog will not help you at all. The reason I recommend a blog is not for you to have a journal to doodle in. It is to help your link campaign the most efficiently and cost-effective way possible.

What is the right blog then?

The right blog is one that has a Page Rank higer than the site you are trying to market. Thus, if you have a brand new domain, then your Page Rank is zero. So you need to have a blog with a PR 1 or better.

"But how do I get a blog that already has a Page Rank?"

Contact me. I have several blogs that I rent out to folks ranging from Page Rank 1 all the way up to Page Rank 6. By the way, MySpace and Pepsi have Page Ranks of 7 as of this writing.

The rental prices vary based on the PR of the site. Remember, the higher the PR of the site or blog that links to the site you are marketing, the better your search rankings will be.
