Hyphens in your Domain Name

Why you should consider having hyphens in your Domain Name

The moment I mention having hyphens in a domain name, most people say "no way, customers would never be able to type that in."

My response to that is that customers who are going to type your domain in already know who you are.  I market sites for those people who are doing searches. Surfers who DON'T already know about the service that you offer are the people that I want to attract.

With that in mind, a site name with hyphens will almost always out preform a site name without hyphens.  (all other things being equal)

An example would be my two videography sites.  I have one site www.charleston-wedding-videography.com which ranks better than www.coastalvideography.com for most searches even though the first domain has WAY LESS links pointing to it.
